Hello from Southern Ireland

Post by Simon »

Hi.
Thank you for letting me join.
I have an LZ64 that I bought new a very long time ago.
I used it just to cross reference valves ( vacuum tubes ). That took a lot of effort to load all that info and now I can't find the data pack that I put it all on.
I still have the games pack and the thesaurus pack.
I am in the market for a few bits for my LZ64 so I will be posting or replying to adds in the "shop" section and most certainly asking silly questions.
Thanks again.

Welcome.
I bet if you find that Datapacks, everything will still be safely stored on there. Well, as long as it is an EPROM pack and not a ram pack.
I'm pretty sure that there's no such thing as a silly question...

Hi Simon

Great to have you on board.

(1) To be getting on with, there's a power supply in the loan section. I believe thesourcerer had some 'uncased' top slot power supply boards available.
(1a) Before you buy a 'power supply' consider a USB (powered) Comms Link if thesourcerer has any left!.. Andrew made them they're great.. Comms and Power..

(2) Andrew is right about USB charging PP3 batteries. BUT be careful the 'drop off' is very quick and doesn't always give you time to swap them before losing the RAM. For my serious LZ64 I use lithium PP3's, they give plenty of time to swap batteries when the time comes.

(3) There are PDF copies of the original Organiser II manuals (here)

(4) If you send me the datapaks I can make any program pack you want to try. - If you have a USB comms Link you can MAKE your own.

That's enough to be getting on with
Sincerely and in good faith

Yes, Martin is correct, the USB charged batteries do drop off quicky, and they also have less capacity than the non-rechargeable version.
If you can't get a power PCB I have a few that have had their connectors removed, I could fit a new connector to one. The cases are available from 'notfitforpurpose' on github and print really nicely in transparent resin from JLCPCB, at a cost of around $8 or so.

Hi,
so my question is do you repair stuff with valves in?

I Remember valve equivalent books from when I started in electronics that ran to hundreds and hundreds of pages and colleagues who bought parts from Radio Spares (R.S.)

You might be needing one of the larger Data packs.

Cheers.
