Advice to anyone giving it a go..

Post by Martin »

I know by trying Tom's adventure that if you get so far and can't continue then there is a tendency to 'give up' - nothing lost.

With this in mind I'll give the advice here that I gave to my grand daughter (over the phone) the other day.

(1) Make a map so you can easily go back and forth.
(1a) When you know where you are use 'D' to speed up the display of the location. You can use 'D' again at any time to see the full location description.

(2) TIP The labyrinth is underneath the Toy shop and the Opticians have a look for and 'USE RADIO'

(3) A torch would be handy in the Crystal Cave, the Hotel and the Palace which of course is an imposing building.

Sincerely and in good faith

PS Let me know if you need more help..

An interesting use of the TL Menu installer; not placing it first or before OFF.

A tiny aesthetic artefact is on the splash screen; you’re maybe displaying UDG0 after ‘Strutsul Island’ before defining it? As on the LZ I briefly see the TL Menu Organiser icon before it goes to a smiley face.

I’m starting to move around, I’m starving though. I have found somewhere to get food, I have the resources to, but I don’t know what commands I need to enter to make it happen.

More help

Post by Martin »

Hi Chris

Well spotted about the start up icon. I left it, I thought it was 'neat' as it changed and am pleased you spotted it.

There are a couple of places you can get something to 'eat'. Simply 'BUY PIZZA' or similar.. Also there is a wordlist written on a piece of paper somewhere that becomes available in the MENU after you have 'READ PAPER'.

Main TIP 'USE RADIO'

Sincerely Martin

Hi,
so received Strutsul Island this morning.

So excited...My wife loves games and I mean loves them.
(In 1994 we played networked doom at home through the whole game !)

Nearly had to get another Organiser, until I showed Jaap's emulator.
So, have written instructions on how to use the emulator for her. Load a pack and save the state.
She will of course beat me hands down... of that there's no doubt.

Hi NFfP

Great to hear she is going to try the game. It' OK in Jape but without the sound in a certain situation she will need to bring forth her inner code breaker.

It is interesting that the three 'non-forum' players I know of are all female. You'll see I've sent you/her my email address so she can contact me (and them if she wishes) without having to use your Forum account.

Fantastic

Hi Martin,
thanks for the pointers...

I got off the island... trouble is - I had no treasure.... and didn't mean too
(was just wandering aimlessly about, bit of boating as you do - being a seafarer an all that)

So currently out with some Buccaneers I know and spy a small Island off the larboard side on the horizon...

Strutsul Island Adventure - Making progress

Post by Martin »

Hi NFfP and others watching

I understand... I would just say a couple of things.. You are right it would be good to find the 'treasure' (whatever that is!). AND did you visit the mountains? - perhaps - did you find the radio?

Sincerely
Martin

Hi Martin,
The Buccaneers were no better than the Pirates !

I am busy map making, looking for treasure and mountains...been in an eerie place.
I think I have eaten as well.

I won't be giving up my day job....

Mrs NFfP though likes my scribbles. I need to do them on Post-It notes, so I don't have to redraw the map...again.

P.S. its only about 50 mm sq on the paper.

That's fantastic, like a proper treasure map.. I can't wait to show it to my girls.. And if the hunger has gone then you must have eaten!
